Sublime landscapes and a plethora of activities for both the adventurous and those seeking relaxation, the South Island of New Zealand is a destination for all types of travellers. Having constantly dreamed of returning to New Zealand, we finally flew over the ditch two weeks ago, and I'm so so glad we did. With some hesitation and bucketfuls of excitement, we embarked on our first ever campervan adventure, and we couldn't be happier about choosing this option. After picking up our vehicle down the road from Christchurch Airport, we were off. We oohed and ahhh-d so much, our vocalisations could have formed the bassline of a dubstep mix.
The great thing about campervan travel in New Zealand is that it is well catered to and generally well received. On the first night we slept about 2 metres from Lake Pukaki in the hope of waking up to a beautiful sunrise, and boy did we get one. I had to restrain myself from overloading this post with more images, but suffice it to say, it was an absolutely stunning morning. With a hot cup of tea in hand, we flung open the rear doors of our campervan, and stared into these scenes.
