I'm a huge fan of elegance (even the word is beautiful!). An understated eloquence, a graceful simplicity. Though I'm more likely to attribute this to certain women, I was captivated by this creature's elegance in both still moments and in flight.
I don't always have my camera on me; so this afternoon, I was very glad I had just gotten my sensor cleaned, and walked down to the shoreline to farewell the sun for another day.

As the winter chill settles in, homewear includes scarves and thick socks, with sniffles and coughs coming and going. But every so often, I'll turn on a playlist of warm lovey dovey indie tracks, sit on the couch in my wannabe-eskimo outfit, bring water to the boil for a milky coffee (or sing an "i want coffee~" song within earshot of my husband -it's because he makes better coffees than I do. Not a testament to my laziness at all). Baked goods, some nuts, the coffee, and a shelved fiction book I haven't touched in a while. Yes it helps me relax, but it also allows me to review life. The moments, the days which are passing me by. The countless reasons to be grateful, the countless dreams I had in my late teens and early twenties, the dreams I still dream for now and the future. Drenched in a bit of reminiscing, and planning for the future, my heart is sufficiently warmed. It's a mellow yellow sort of evening.
As amazing as Sydney's annual Vivid festival of lights is, if you attend two days before lights dim for another year, you've seen more than enough photos of the Opera House sails and white bunnies on facebook and instagram. The light displays are absolutely phenomenal. The problem is, you feel like you've seen them even before you arrive; so you want to create some different images. In such a case, it's handy to have a husband who dances. These are a set of photos from one light display at Vivid Sydney 2014.
